The next line of leaders are ready to spread their wings and take flight through St Kilda’s Moorabbin Airport scholarship program. Providing Indigenous/Torres Strait Islander and multicultural children across the bayside region opportunities to develop their leadership and deepen their connection to their respective cultures, the scholarship program welcomed officially welcomed this year’s 30 recipients at last month’s induction night at the Danny Frawley Centre. Running four sessions from April to August, students will learn from guest speakers Aunty Katrina Amon, as well as Jarryd Roughead and Trent Dennis-Lane. The program’s most recent session featured a special discussion from Roughead about his experiences within and outside of football, as well as a cultural wood burning component run by Indigenous Development Manager Katrina Amon and former Saint Trent Dennis-Lane. Current St Kilda players Marcus Windhager and Jack Peris were previous graduates of the program, which in 2023 additionally houses a mix of students from STK Academy’s Junior and Elite Talent programs. Thanks to the support of Moorabbin Airport, each scholarship holder receives financial assistance to help as part of their footballing journey. The scholarship program’s next session will run in early July, which will entail a Leadership & Resilience course, as well as a Cultural Awareness seminar
